How to Uninstall a Windows 10 Program or Application Easily

Uninstalling a program in earlier versions of Windows wasn’t all that easy — you had to move into the Control Panel’s Programs and Settings tab. Uninstalling a program (whether a desktop application or a Windows 10 app) is much easier in Windows 10, however.
Here are three common ways to uninstall an application or a Windows 10 PC program:

Total Time: 15 minutes

  • From the Start menu

    start menu

From the Start menu, you can uninstall all Windows 10 apps and conventional desktop programs directly (it — kind of directly).

Go to Start > All applications to do this, and find the device or software you want to uninstall. Right-click the app or software, and click Uninstall from the appearing drop-down screen. If you do not see Uninstall in the drop-down menu, the program could be a default device, in which case you will need to follow this guide to uninstall it.

When you uninstall a Windows 10 device, you’ll see a pop-up window telling you which software will be uninstalled and its related details. Touch Uninstall to finish uninstalling.

  • From the Settings menu

    uninstall chrome windows 10

You can also uninstall applications and programs from the Settings menu if you can’t locate the device or program you want to uninstall in the Start tab, too.

Open the Start > Settings menu and go to Program, then select Apps & Features. Here you can see, sorted by size, a list of applications and programs on your PC. You can search for apps using the search box at the top of the page, and you can resort the list by name or by date of installation.

Find the app or software you’d like to uninstall, then click Uninstall. It doesn’t matter whether this time it’s an app or a desktop program — you’ll see a pop-up window telling you that the software will be uninstalled, along with its related details. To complete the operation, hit Uninstall (you might also see a pop-up asking if you want to let this software make changes to your device, click Yes to proceed).

  • From the Control Panel

You can also uninstall programs directly from the Control Panel — but not Windows 10 applications —. To do so, right click the Start button and press the Control Panel button. Go to Programs and Features (please go to Uninstall a Program if your Control Panel is in Category view).

Find the software you want to uninstall, click it and then press Uninstall. You will see a pop-up window asking if you are sure you want to uninstall this software, click Yes, and if necessary, click through the uninstall wizard.
